“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” James Baldwin. Our name was inspired by the rally-cry of activists, filmmakers, and people throughout the country who are tired of gun violence. We want safer streets and we want people to pour that energy into doing something creative.
This slogan, started as a call to action for people to document their communities. Now it is a slogan many can relate to. Shoot Films Not People is a film production company and apparel brand rooted in social justice.
Shoot Films Not People is designed to bring attention to the issue of gun violence and honor those who have been affected by it. The apparel features the words, “Shoot Films Not People” and comes in a variety of colors and styles to represent the different types of people affected by gun violence. Some of the colors we offer are black, white, and orange.
Originally founded in Chicago, Shoot Films, Not People provides powerful testaments to the black experience through film, as well as bold and branded merchandise that features original artwork, statements, and limited reworked/reconstructed designs.
